Exchanges at the ESCRS Winter

Laboratoires Théa take part in research and propose innovative solutions for surgeons.

For almost 6 years now, Laboratoires Théa have actively participated in the ESCRS Winter Meeting, which took place this year in Belgrade, Serbia, from February 9 to 11, 2018.

Laboratoires Théa were able to accommodate about 300 ophthalmologists on their stand, mainly from this area of Europe. It was a great opportunity to meet ophthalmologists from Eastern Europe: more than 300 of them visited the Théa stand and exchanged points of view with our teams of subsidiaries and distributors.

This meeting, specialising in surgery, was also an opportunity to share the results of new approaches to mydriasis (dilation of the pupil) during cataract surgery. These new results were the subject of 2 posters selected to be exhibited in the form of short oral communications.

These posters, selected by a jury of experts, were awarded on Saturday 10 February after the Meeting’s Main Symposium. This award is a great recognition of all the work accomplished and the quality of the results.

The 2 posters selected:

• The project presented by Prof Güell (Spain) highlighting the LEAN method for organising the workflow of surgeons. The objective of this method is to optimise intervention time for the surgical team and the patient during the cataract operation, to guarantee the quality, safety, efficiency and effectiveness of this method.

• The observational study presented by Prof Kecik (Poland) on the satisfaction of surgeons on intracameral use of a new mydriatic/anaesthetic combination. Conducted in Poland, this study aims to highlight the experience of 700 surgeons on the use of the new mydriatic/anaesthetic combination during cataract surgery.
