2nd European Meeting of Young Ophthalmologists

Seeing the future of ophthalmology

The promising 2nd edition of the Young Ophthalmologists’ congress took place, endorsed by the SOE YO. It was under the auspices of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology and sponsored by Laboratoires Théa. Dr. Jose Luis Encinas chaired the congress which took place on the 24th and 25th of June at the Principe Felipe auditorium in Oviedo, Northern Spain.

The European Meeting of Young Ophthalmologist stands out from other congresses as it’s designed and run by YOs for YOs. Education and training for future young ophthalmologists are very important and this meeting is a way to exchange and provide advice, and to inform about the latest developments in the ophthalmological area. This was reflected in the meeting’s main topic entitled ‘Update in Ophthalmology’.

31 countries were involved in the meeting, with 65 speakers and 400 delegates.

Four young ophthalmologists won awards for a selection of criteria, including best oral presentation, best poster and best video presentation.
